2017 Lexus LX Versus the Competition
Which Is Better: 2017 Lexus LX or 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser?
The 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser has a lot in common with the LX 570. Modeled on the same platform, the two SUVs offer similar interior dimensions and fuel economy. The Land Cruiser has a bit more cargo space with the seats up, but the LX has more with them all folded down. Both have outstanding off-road prowess with their full-time four-wheel-drive systems, adaptive suspensions, and terrain selection systems. The Lexus has a slightly better predicted reliability rating, a higher towing capacity, and a more opulent interior – with the caveat being that you’ll pay for it. On average, you’ll spend about $11,000 less by opting for the Land Cruiser.

Which Is Better: 2017 Lexus LX or 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?
Among luxury large SUVs, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS is a tough to beat. It has an excellent predicted reliability rating and one of the nicest, most spacious interiors in the class. Unlike many 3-row SUVs, its third row can accommodate most adults in moderate comfort. The GLS also has more cargo room, a slightly higher towing capacity, and better fuel economy than the LX. The Mercedes-Benz will even save you money – it’s about $20,000 cheaper than the Lexus on average. Unless you want the LX’s off-roading capabilities or its eight-person seating capacity, the GLS is the better choice.

Which Is Better: 2017 Lexus LX or 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
The 2017 Cadillac Escalade is an OK choice among luxury large SUVs. Its extended-wheelbase ESV variant offers a generous amount cargo space and passenger room, even in the third row. With its powerful V8 engine, the Escalade can also tow more than the LX. However, the LX has a higher predicted reliability rating. Although the Escalade costs around $13,000 less than the LX, on average, the LX is worth getting if it’s in your budget.

2017 LX Performance
How Does the 2017 Lexus LX Drive?
The four-wheel-drive Lexus LX 570 features a 5.7-liter V8 engine producing 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. The standard eight-speed automatic transmission comes with paddle shifters. Despite being a large SUV, the LX offers terrific acceleration. Its V8 engine gives it enough power to climb hills or tow a trailer with ease.

The LX rides smoothly over rough roads, and its adjustable suspension offers three driving modes to let you tailor the ride to your own preferences. Like many large SUVs, the LX isn’t exactly agile and it has noticeable body roll around corners.

Does the 2017 Lexus LX Get Good Gas Mileage?
The LX is estimated to get 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. That’s below average even among luxury large SUVs.

2017 LX Off-Road Performance?
The Lexus LX 570 is mechanically very similar to the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser, which means it’s a strong off-road performer. Its standard locking center differential, two-speed transfer case, terrain selection system, and Crawl Control all help it achieve an off-road proficiency unmatched by many luxury rivals.

2017 Lexus LX Towing Capacity
The LX can tow up to 7,000 pounds when properly equipped.

2017 LX Interior
How Many People Does the 2017 LX Seat?
The Lexus LX 570 can seat up to eight people. Leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and heated front seats come standard. There’s a power-sliding 60/40-split second row, along with a power-folding 50/50-split third row. Heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats and semi-aniline leather trim are available as part of the Luxury package.

Both the first and second rows are capable of seating adults comfortably, especially since the power-sliding second row can slide forward and back. Like many three-row rivals, the LX has as third row that is best left to children. The LX 570’s cabin is constructed with premium materials, though it feels a bit dated compared to the sleek and elegant designs found in some rivals.

How Many Car Seats Fit in the 2017 Lexus LX?
This SUV has two complete sets of LATCH car seat connectors for securing child car seats in the second row. There are no LATCH connectors in the third row.

2017 Lexus LX Features
The standard Lexus Remote Touch system features a 12.3-inch display, navigation, Bluetooth, a USB port, the Lexus Enform App Suite (including Pandora, Slacker, and iHeartRadio), a nine-speaker premium sound system, satellite radio, and HD radio. The Remote Touch controller operates similarly to a laptop touchpad, which can be frustrating and distracting to use while driving.

Quad-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a suite of driver assistance features are also standard. Available features include a head-up display, a 19-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, Qi-compatible wireless charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 11.6-inch displays.

Folding down the third row opens up 27.3 cubic feet of space, and you’ll have 73 cubic feet with both the second and third rows folded. Those numbers trail many rivals, and even some luxury midsize SUVs offer more space. A standard power liftgate makes it easier to access the cargo area.

2017 LX Length and Weight
